Dogs in the Workplace
There are many factors an employee looks at before making a job change – compensation, vacation, 401K, but what about dogs/pets in the office? Yes, that’s right. This is a real thing and people take it into consideration. I’m proof!
Anyone familiar with Mangold Creative is familiar with our most tenure employee (above and beyond Mike and Heather), the lovable Lab & Vizsla mix, our MC Mascot. Not just a cute face. His presence here in the office means so much more and when he lets some of his friends visit, it’s even that much better!
Having a dog in the workplace is known to boost employee morale. Let’s face it, how can you stay mad or let stress get to you when you have a cute puppy laying in your office? Research shows that dogs increase oxytocin – the “feel good” hormone and playing with a furry friend can be an equivalent to human companionship. And better yet, they don’t talk like your human colleagues do. Just kidding guys!
An office dog may be the answer when it comes to increasing productivity. An obvious conversation ice breaker, people get to know each other better through their animals. This helps open the lines of communication between colleagues leading to better collaboration and creativity.
All of us know about long work days and burning the midnight oil, but having a dog in the office forces you to get up and get moving. Going for a walk at lunch is not only good for your health, but mental sanity.
But really, the most important reason to have a dog in the office, is that it is just plain fun. They will always be your cheapest employee and unofficial office greeter. People will love coming into your space and your peers will envy you for working in a place that is so much fun. The chill vibe you give as a company will be appealing to customers, clients, and future employees.
Mangold Creative (and Uber) can’t be wrong. Everyone loves puppies especially when you put them to work!
